4x4 and associated training

Fully accredited members of BORDA (british off road driving association) we are able to offer a number of courses from as little as £95.

BORDA basic introduction to off road driving

A half day course aimed at the novice off road driver. Trainees will be introduced to the skills of driving a four wheel drive vehicle such as , vehicle controls,observation and reading the ground, driving in ruts, cross axle situations, crossing ditches, ruts and gullies, ridges and boulders, hill climbs, descents and potential hazards. Training, fun and a challenge in a very busy half day course. There are a maximum of three people on the course. This course is a very popular choice as a gift!

BORDA stage 1

A one day course aimed at regular recreational users of 4x4s and those using their vehicles in connection with their work. the course starts with the basics as in the half day course then goes on to look at more advanced driving techniques, recovery procedures and driver safety.The course will give the driver a thorough grounding for UK conditions. There are a maximum of two people on the course.

Vehicle recovery and winching

A non BORDA course this is aimed at the 4x4 driver or adventurer who anticipates driving in extreme or hostile environments. A one day course covering the use a broad range of recovery equipment including High Lift jacks, sand ladders and of course bumper mounted winches. The course starts with a comprehensive theory session and is followed by practicle exercises giving trainees the opportunity to get some intense hands on experience. Particular attention is payed to safety, constant risk assesment and a methodical approach. The keys to safe and effective vehicle recovery.

Certification and the PUWER regulations

Under the terms of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations, an employee must be trained in the use of equipment provided. Our courses will ensure that your staff have received the appropriate training in the use of their Four wheel drive vehicle and associated equipment. Those requiring certification in addition to proof of traing can be trained and assesed to nationally recognised standards at any of the BORDA approved training centres.

Expedition preperation

These course are aimed at people planning adventurous holidays and overland trips. Depending on the nature of the planned trip we create a tailer made driving and recovery package that will suit your needs. We encourage you to bring your expedition prepared vehicle so that you can asses and confirm its off road ability before embarking on your trip. The oppertunity to camp on the shores of our beautiful lake will allow you to test out roof tents,fridges vehicle loading and those hundreds of little things that will add or detract from the experience. Other activities (Fishing, camping, shooting, special events)

New for 2007 we are using our stunning location to provide some superb activites.These are idealy put together as a package suiting perhaps groups of friends,work colleagues, families, father and Son, Stag and Hen groups or the individual wanting some peace and quiet.

A typical package may include a mornings trout fishing including some basic casting tuition, insect recognition and hopefully at the end, preperation of a fish for cooking.

This could be followed by an afternoon setting up a bushcraft type camp with a shelter, fire and an evening meal caught in the woods or the lake. We promise not to subject you to hideous toilet experiences,eating anything disgusting or a visit from the cast of deliverence.

The next day might involve an introductory 4x4 driving course and an hour on our shooting range followed by a pub lunch and the journey home. Everyone is an individual with different requirements, Tell us what you would like and we will do our best to arrange an unforgettable weekend.
